MLS Week 14
Chivas USA @ New England Revolution
Does anyone find it strange that the New England Revolution was the only team not to play on the 4th of July? Irony aside, the Revolution will be well rested for this one. Also, Chivas hasn’t proven that they can get results on the road so I think the Revs will at least temporarily jump back into first in the East. REVS 3 CUSA 1
Real Salt Lake @ Columbus Crew
The Crew are coming off a 0-0 draw in Colorado, but Salt Lake earned the dubious distinction of becoming the first team to lose at home to Toronto. Columbus is just the better team right now, and I don’t think they will drop points at home to Salt Lake. CREW 2, RSL 0
Toronto FC @ Chicago Fire
Toronto are coming off their first road win, and they have a chance to make it two against a struggling Fire side. To be fair, both goals against the Fire in the 2-0 loss to LA were from questionable penalties, but the Fire need some sort of jolt. Perhaps hiring Juan Carlos Osorio will provide that spark, but he won’t be announced until next week. TFC 1, FIRE 0
Kansas City Wizards @ Los Angeles Galaxy
Wizards fans have to be wondering when they will actually start scoring goals again. This will be their last game without Eddie Johnson, but they would like to take advantage of a Galaxy team that still didn’t look totally convincing in their win over Chicago. KC 1, LA 1
New York Red Bulls @ Colorado Rapids
The Red Bulls were playing so poorly in their 4-0 loss to Houston last night that Bruce Arena subbed out Claudio Reyna and Juan Pablo Angel fairly early in the second half. I think the Red Bulls will come out angry and looking to prove a point, and Colorado hasn’t looked like they are capable of standing up to what New York could bring to bear against them. NY 2, RAPIDS 0
DC United @ Houston Dynamo

This game pits two of the hottest teams in the league. DC has vaulted into first place in the East and Houston haven’t lost in over a month. Houston should have the edge in this game with the home field advantage as well as having fewer injury/international duty problems. HOUSTON 3, DCU 1
